Back in Time...

Going back in time here a little to catch you up on what we've been doing all winter. The first picture is pretty accurate. The girls LOVE to snuggle up on the couch for "special movie night", something we try to do every once in a while. In an effort to cut back a little on TV in the last year or so, and taking into account the absolute love the girls have of watching a "good flick", i.e. Cinderella, Snow White, Mary Poppins, etc. this is something we enjoy doing as a family. Not to say that they don't watch TV, but since these are their favorites, it's worked well for us to make these special occasional nights, since they're SO LONG and usually involve some "editing" on our part, either by explaining something or skipping through inappropriate parts of movies....don't get me started on Peter Pan! :) Let me tell you, these girls can PLOW through a huge bowl of popcorn and is one of their favorite parts of movie night. But, a lot of times, this curling up on the couch time is just that. Just snuggling up together, which "Dosie" has become particularly fond of. She usually starts out with one request. "Up"? Which quickly escalates to "Up, UP, UuuuuPPPP!! SCREECH!!" :) Of course Christmas was wonderful this year. M and A really had an understanding of the season and the spirit that comes with it. This was the first year that I really saw them actually anticipating the next thing. Baking Christmas cookies, picking out the tree, decorating it and then waiting for Christmas Eve, etc. They ate more of the dough and flour than I anticipated! Yes, flour! They can't resist doing that, even though I really don't get it and try to convince them to wait for the reward at the end! It becomes a big joke, them sneaking handfuls everytime I turn around. They're learning giving and gratefulness, and I really enjoyed it with them this year. They ask more often than I have the energy for, to make something for someone! So, "Break -n- Bake" cookies have become a dear friend!! There was a Christmas play at preschool, which A had to miss playing the Innkeeper's wife due to being sick. M was an angel, and as you can see, she really played up her role!! :)
